About
My name is Su Bowie. I set up Easy As Pi Maths Tuition when I left mainstream education after 12 years as a maths teacher.
I started tutoring full-time in January 2021 and have taught such a rich variety of students, including apprentice engineers, students not accessing mainstream education for mental health reasons, home educated students, adult learners, led schools revision sessions and, of course, lots of Year 10s and 11s!
I love teaching maths and being my own boss allows me to do this how I think it should be done.
I am based in beautiful Cornwall, near Newquay. When I moved here from Great Yarmouth in 2005, I completed a four-year Maths & Statistics Degree at the University of Plymouth, specialising in Applied Statistics. I then studied for a Mathematics PGCE, for which I gained an outstanding grade. I am a Corporate Member of The Tutors' Association.
I was then very lucky to do my NQT and training at The Roseland Academy in Truro where I stayed for six years. I have taken real pride in teaching students who do not find maths easy, and that is where my strengths lie.
On a personal note, I have four children, now all grown up, and five grandchildren. I love spending time with them and enjoying the beautiful area we live in.
